When showing up feels hard but God still waits for you

Let’s be honest—sometimes we lose the spark.

The love we once had for going to church, serving in ministry, or just being around God’s people… it starts to fade. And we wonder, “What happened to me?”

If that’s you, friend—you’re not alone.
And you’re not a failure.
You’re just human.
But here’s the good news: God hasn’t given up on you.

1. Seasons of Struggle Don’t Mean You’ve Stopped Belonging

We all go through spiritual dry seasons. Even David, a man after God’s own heart, cried out:

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God…”
—Psalm 42:5 (KJV)

You may not feel the fire right now, but that doesn’t mean the flame is gone forever.
Sometimes, the soul gets tired before it gets thirsty again.

2. Church Is Still the Place You Need, Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

It’s tempting to pull away when your heart grows cold. But isolation only deepens the chill.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is…”
—Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)

You don’t go to church because you feel perfect.
You go because you need the presence of God, the prayers of the saints, and the strength that comes from being in His house—even if you just sit quietly in the back.

3. Ministry Isn’t About Being Full—It’s About Being Faithful

There are days you won’t feel excited to serve. That doesn’t disqualify you.
In fact, that’s when your service means the most—because it’s coming from a place of obedience, not emotion.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
—Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

God honors the quiet acts of faithfulness when no one sees, when your heart is heavy, and when the joy feels far away.

4. Return Doesn’t Require Perfection—Just a Willing Heart

Jesus isn’t waiting for you to “get it together.” He’s just waiting for you to come home.

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
—James 4:8 (KJV)

You don’t need to fake excitement or force your feelings. Just come back to Him. Sit in His presence. Let His Spirit stir what has been sleeping.

Even a whisper of “Lord, I miss You” is enough to start again.

5. He Restores What Feels Lost

That passion?
That love for His house?
That joy in serving others?

He can give it back.

“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
—Psalm 51:12 (KJV)

David prayed it, and so can you. Because the same God who lit the fire the first time is fully able to reignite it again.

Final Word: Your Seat Is Still at the Table

If you’ve drifted from church…
If ministry feels like a burden…
If your heart isn’t where it used to be…

Don’t stay in the shadows.

God hasn’t moved. He’s still calling. Still loving. Still waiting with open arms.

And guess what?
Your seat in His house? It’s still there.
Your gift? Still needed.
Your presence? Still precious.

Let Him restore the joy. One step, one prayer, one Sunday at a time.

You’re not done. You’re not forgotten.
You’re still called. You’re still loved.

“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
—Romans 11:29 (KJV)
