What Truly Lasts in a World Full of Vanity?

In a world that constantly says, “Live your best life now,” we find ourselves endlessly chasing the next big thing—
The dream vacation.
The perfect job.
The overflowing bank account.
The unforgettable experiences.

We chase satisfaction like a mirage in the desert, only to realize that the closer we get, the more it slips away.

King Solomon—the wisest man to ever live—reached the peak of success, wealth, pleasure, and wisdom. And yet, at the end of it all, he declared:

“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.”
—Ecclesiastes 1:2 (KJV)

Everything under the sun, apart from God, is empty and fleeting.

🌍 Don’t Trade Eternity for Temporary

This life isn’t the main event. It’s just a shadow of what’s to come. There is a new heaven and a new earth on the horizon—more real, more vibrant, and more beautiful than anything we’ve ever experienced.

“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
—2 Peter 3:13 (KJV)

In that coming world, there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more pain. What’s waiting is beyond imagination, a life free of sin, shame, and striving.

So why do we exhaust ourselves chasing fleeting highs when we were made for forever?

✝️ What Matters Most

If you’re not in Christ, every earthly experience—no matter how great—is ultimately futile. It’s like building sandcastles when a kingdom is being offered.

But for those who are in Him, every sacrifice, every act of obedience, every quiet moment of faithfulness echoes into eternity.

More than living for experiences, we’re called to live for the Gospel.
Jesus gave us a mission that outlives us:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
—Matthew 28:19–20 (KJV)

Your life has a bigger purpose.
Not to collect pleasures, but to collect souls.
Not to be popular, but to make Jesus known.
Do the main thing. Make disciples. Share the Good News.

🕊️ Eternity Is Closer Than We Think

Life on this earth is short, but eternity is forever. If we live for what’s temporary, we’ll have nothing that lasts. But if we live for Christ, we gain everything.

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
—Colossians 3:2 (KJV)

There’s joy in knowing that we don’t have to chase everything here.
In Christ, we already have everything we need.

🌅 Eternal Hope > Earthly Highs

Stop living for the weekend.
Stop chasing what fades.
Start building what will never be taken from you.

What truly lasts in a world full of vanity?
Only Christ.
Only eternity.
Only what’s done for Him.
