Signs that God is doing important work in your life

Have you ever wondered, “Is God working in my life?” Sometimes, His work isn’t obvious at first, but the Bible assures us that God is always at work in the lives of those who love Him.

📖 Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

God doesn’t start something in your life only to leave it unfinished. If He has begun working in you, He will continue His work—even when you don’t fully see it yet. So how can you tell when God is doing something important in your life?

Let’s take a look at Joseph—a man who went through unexpected trials but later saw God’s plan unfold perfectly.

1. You Feel a Growing Hunger for God

One of the first signs that God is working in your life is when you develop a deeper hunger for Him. You begin to:

✅ Desire to read the Bible more
✅ Pray more often and more sincerely
✅ Feel convicted about things you used to ignore
✅ Long to grow spiritually

This desire doesn’t come from yourself—it’s God drawing you closer.

📖 John 6:44 (KJV)
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.”

Joseph remained faithful to God, even when he was sold into slavery. Instead of letting bitterness take over, he stayed close to God, and God’s favor remained on him (Genesis 39:2-3). If you feel a pull toward God, it’s a sure sign He’s working in you.

2. You Face Unexpected Challenges and Pruning

Sometimes, God’s work begins with pruning—removing things from your life that are holding you back spiritually. This can come in the form of:

🔹 Difficult situations
🔹 Losing things or relationships
🔹 Facing challenges that test your faith

Joseph faced betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment (Genesis 37-40). Each hardship was painful, but God was shaping him for something greater.

📖 John 15:2 (KJV)
“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

Your setbacks are not the end of your story—they are part of God’s refining process.

3. Your Perspective on Life Begins to Change

When God starts working in your life, you will notice a shift in how you see the world. Instead of only focusing on:

❌ Earthly success
❌ Temporary pleasures
❌ What people think of you

You start focusing on:

Eternal things (Heaven, salvation, God’s plan)
Serving others instead of just yourself
Living by faith instead of fear

Even while in prison, Joseph’s perspective changed. Instead of being bitter, he chose to serve and help others (Genesis 40:6-8).

📖 Colossians 3:2 (KJV)
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

God is renewing your mind and teaching you to see life through His eyes.

4. You Experience a Season of Waiting

One of the hardest parts of God’s work is the waiting season. If you’re in a place where:

⏳ Prayers seem unanswered
⏳ Doors are not opening
⏳ Life feels uncertain

It could be because God is preparing you for what’s next.

Joseph spent years in prison, wondering when God would deliver him. But during that time, God was preparing him for leadership.

📖 Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Waiting doesn’t mean God isn’t working—sometimes, waiting is part of the work.

5. You Start Seeing Divine Appointments

When God is working, you’ll start noticing divine connections in your life. These could be:

🔹 Meeting new people who encourage your faith
🔹 Receiving unexpected opportunities
🔹 Seeing confirmation of things you’ve prayed for

Joseph’s divine appointment came when Pharaoh had a troubling dream, and Joseph was the only one who could interpret it. In one day, he went from prisoner to prime minister (Genesis 41:14-41).

📖 Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

God orchestrates every detail of your journey. Nothing happens by accident—He is leading you step by step.

6. You Feel a Stronger Sense of Purpose

As God works in you, you’ll start to feel:

✔ A burden for something greater
✔ A call to serve in a new way
✔ A desire to live out your faith boldly

Joseph’s hardships prepared him for his God-given purpose—to save many lives during a famine (Genesis 50:20).

📖 Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

God has a plan for you—and when He begins working, He starts revealing your purpose.

Trust the Process: God is Still Working!

If you’re noticing any of these signs, take heart! God is doing something important in your life—even if you don’t fully understand it yet.

📖 Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

No matter where you are in your journey, God is not finished with you yet. Trust His timing, lean into His Word, and keep seeking Him—because His work in you is only just beginning.
