How God Uses Broken People to Do Great Things

If you’ve ever felt too flawed, too broken, or too unworthy to be used by God — take a deep breath. You’re in good company. The Bible doesn’t hide the failures of those who were used in mighty ways. It tells the raw, unfiltered stories of people who stumbled, doubted, and fell short — yet were still chosen, redeemed, and empowered by God.

Because our mighty God doesn’t require perfection to perform His purpose.
He uses broken people to do great things.

The Bible Is Full of Imperfect People Used by a Perfect God

Look through Scripture, and you’ll quickly see that God uses imperfect people for His glory.

  • Moses was a murderer who doubted his calling. Yet God used him to lead an entire nation out of slavery.
  • David, a man after God’s own heart, committed adultery and arranged a death to cover it up. Yet God still used him to write the Psalms and shape Israel’s history.
  • Paul, once a persecutor of Christians, became one of the greatest missionaries who ever lived.

The people God used were not flawless — they were faithful.

The Bible doesn’t hide their failures because their stories reveal something powerful: God’s grace works best in brokenness.

Your Imperfections Don’t Disqualify You

Too often we believe the lie that we must have it all together before God can use us. But that’s not how His kingdom works. God doesn’t call the qualified — He qualifies the called.

When God looks at you, He doesn’t see your disqualifications; He sees your potential. He sees your heart, your willingness, and your story — even the painful parts — and He uses them for His glory.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the apostle Paul writes,
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

That’s how God uses broken people to do great things. He takes our weakness and fills it with His strength. He takes our mess and turns it into a message.

God Can Use Your Story Too

Maybe you’ve failed. Maybe you’ve fallen. Maybe your past is filled with chapters you’d rather forget. But the same God who used Moses, David, and Paul is still in the business of using broken people to build His kingdom.

Your story isn’t over — it’s just being rewritten by grace.
Every scar becomes a testimony. Every setback becomes a setup for something greater.

God can use your failures for His glory, your pain for His purpose, and your brokenness for His beauty.

A God Who Redeems, Restores, and Rebuilds

The world celebrates perfection, but God celebrates transformation. He loves taking what’s broken and making it whole again. He loves working through people who know they can’t do it without Him.

You may feel too small, too weak, too stained by your past — but God specializes in using the least likely people to do the most extraordinary things.

That’s how God uses broken people to do great things: by showing His power through their surrender, not their strength.

Brokenness Is Not the End

If you’re standing in your brokenness today, don’t let shame silence you. Let grace speak louder. God’s not finished with you — He’s forming you.

Your past doesn’t define you; your Redeemer does.
Your weakness doesn’t limit you; His power sustains you.
And your brokenness doesn’t disqualify you — it positions you for His glory.

Because when a broken person says yes to a mighty God, amazing things happen.
