God Doesn’t Call the Qualified; He Qualifies the Called

Have you ever felt underqualified for a task? Maybe you’ve looked at someone else and thought, “They’d be much better at this than me.” We often limit ourselves based on our perceived abilities, but God doesn’t operate that way. He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

Biblical Examples of God Using the Unqualified

The Bible is filled with stories of people who were chosen by God for great tasks, despite their flaws and limitations. Here are a few examples:

  • Moses: Moses, a stutterer and unsure of himself, was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
  • Gideon: Gideon, the youngest son of the smallest family, was chosen to defeat the Midianites.
  • David: A shepherd boy with a slingshot, David was anointed to be the king of Israel.
  • Paul: Once a persecutor of Christians, Paul became a powerful apostle after his encounter with Jesus.

Why Does God Choose the Unqualified?

There are a few reasons why God might choose someone who seems underqualified:

  • Humility: When we are aware of our limitations, we are more likely to rely on God and give Him the glory.
  • Dependence: God wants us to depend on Him, not our own abilities. When we feel unqualified, we are more likely to turn to Him for strength.
  • Faith: God rewards faith, even when we don’t feel worthy. By trusting in Him, we demonstrate our love and obedience.

God’s Grace and Power

The truth is, we are all imperfect. None of us are fully qualified to do God’s work. But that’s okay. God’s grace and power are sufficient for us. He equips us for the tasks He calls us to.

So, the next time you feel underqualified, remember that God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Trust in Him, and let Him use you for His glory.
