There’s something sacred and powerful about the blood of Jesus. As believers, we often hear about it—sing about it, even—but do we pause long enough to realize just how much it means?
Let’s go back to the very first Passover, a night unlike any other.
🩸 The Night of Deliverance
In Exodus 12, God instructed the Israelites to take the blood of a spotless lamb and put it on the doorposts of their homes. That night, the destroyer would pass through Egypt, but wherever the blood was seen, judgment would pass over.
“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you…”
—Exodus 12:13 (KJV)
Notice this: God didn’t say, “When I see how devoted you are” or “When I see how well you’ve lived.” He said, “When I see the blood.”
He didn’t inspect the hearts of those inside. He didn’t evaluate their worthiness. He looked only for the blood—and that was enough.
🙌 Not About Us—All About the Sacrifice
What a beautiful picture of salvation through Christ. The blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, is our covering today.
“For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.”
—1 Corinthians 5:7b (KJV)
God doesn’t save us because we’ve earned it. He saves us because Jesus gave His life for us. The cross wasn’t a reward for the righteous—it was a rescue for the broken. When God sees the blood of His Son covering your life, that is what spares you, secures you, and makes you His.
You are not saved because of what you’ve done—but because of what Jesus did.
💡 What This Means for Us
So often we disqualify ourselves. We doubt God’s love when we fail. We question our salvation when we struggle. But our hope isn’t in our performance—it’s in His precious, perfect blood.
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
—Colossians 1:14 (KJV)
When the accuser whispers shame or when doubt creeps in, you can confidently declare:
“I’m covered—not because I’m good, but because the blood of Jesus is enough.”
🕊️ Rest in This Truth
The Israelites stayed inside, under the blood, and they were safe. Stay in Jesus. Rest in His finished work. When God looks at you, He sees the blood that speaks of mercy, grace, and redemption.
So walk boldly—not because you’re flawless, but because you’re forgiven.
“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
—1 Peter 1:19 (KJV)
You are covered. You are cherished. And yes, you are completely His.
