25 Bible Verses About Healing (For the Body, the Mind, and the Wounded Heart)

Something is wounded in you. It might be your body — the diagnosis you keep hoping to reverse, the chronic pain that has quietly become part of your day. It might be your mind — the anxiety that will not stay quiet, the memory that keeps coming back, the depression that flattens colors you used to see. It might be your heart — the loss that has not lifted, the relationship that broke and did not repair, the trust that got shattered by someone you did not think could shatter it. And you have opened your Bible more than once looking for a verse that felt like it knew what you were carrying.

The Bible has more to say about healing than almost any other subject, because it has more to say about broken people than almost any other book. What follows are twenty-five verses on healing — for the body, for the mind, for the wounded heart, for the soul, and for the hope of a healing that will one day be complete. Read the ones your season needs. Save the rest for later. Bring the honest version of your pain to a God who has never once turned away someone who came to Him bleeding.

Verses for Physical Healing

When the body is what hurts.

1. Exodus 15:26

“I am the Lord, who heals you.” (NIV)

2. Jeremiah 30:17

“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.” (NIV)

3. Psalm 103:2-3

“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” (NIV)

4. Isaiah 53:5

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (NIV)

5. 1 Peter 2:24

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” (NIV)

6. James 5:14-15

Verses for the Hope of Complete Healing

Because not every healing comes on this side of eternity — and Scripture is honest about that too.

How to Pray These Verses

Pick one verse that fits the wound. Read it slowly. Read it out loud. Then pray it back to God in your own words — “Lord, You are the God who heals. I am asking You to be that for me today, in this specific place.” Repeat it tomorrow. And the day after. Healing is rarely a lightning strike; usually it is a slow, patient re-knitting. The verses above are threads God uses to do that work.

And if the healing you have been asking for is not the healing you are being given, please read verses 23-25 again slowly. God has not forgotten the request. Sometimes the complete healing is coming later than you wanted, and it will be so much fuller than what you asked for that the wait itself will be part of the glory.

A Closing Prayer

Father, You are the God who heals. I have been carrying something in my body, or my mind, or my heart, or my soul, and I have not always known how to bring it to You. Thank You that Your Word is not silent about any of it. Meet me in the exact wound I have been trying to bandage on my own. Where healing is Yours to give now, give it. Where the complete healing is waiting for the other side, give me courage for the wait, and eyes for the good You are still doing in me right now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
